WHY DRAYMOND GREEN SHOULD BE SUSPENDED BY THE WARRIORS?

The Golden State Warriors attempt to defend their title has gotten off to a difficult start as the 2022–23 NBA regular season draws nearer.

The team has been looking for positives amid a cloud of doom that has hung over their preseason. While there have been some, such as James Wiseman's health and the growth of Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and Patrick Baldwin Jr., the team is currently dealing with a crisis that coach Steve Kerr called "the biggest we've had since I've been a coach here."

Draymond Green, who made the unwise choice to hit teammate Jordan Poole at a Warriors practice last week, is to blame for this.

Green said he was in a "very, very horrible state emotionally" after the event and voluntarily left the squad to allow everyone to recover.

Green received a fine for the incident, but Kerr said he wouldn't be punished. Kerr claims that he will resume practicing on Thursday and is anticipated to participate in the Warriors' preseason match against Denver on Friday.

It's never simple, Kerr told the press. "Whatever choice you pick in a circumstance like this, it won't be ideal. We are not flawless. Our group isn't flawless."

Skip Bayless, a co-host of "Undisputed," said the Warriors' choice to punish Green was little more than a "slap on the wrist."

"I think if the Golden State Warriors hadn't defeated the Boston Celtics in the Finals... Because there would be nowhere to turn back, I think Draymond Green would be punished for a very long period right now, Bayless remarked on Wednesday. Nothing would exist for one to adore. The excitement has continued throughout the off-season and the upcoming new season, which begins next Tuesday night. You think, "Gosh, we have a chance, and he has been essential to our entire chemistry." He has long served as our heart and glue. Let's try to solve this problem once more.

"They must have told him to go since he took some time off to work on himself. But if he were suspended for the first week or month of the season, it would only be significant. Something harsh negatively impacted him and he let the team know that the situation was serious. You can say, "He betrayed our confidence," but you took no action. You only gave him a wrist slap."

Co-host Bayless shared his views.

Shannon Sharpe said, "I don't think the penalty suits the offense." What I hear, if I were Jordan Poole is as follows: Draymond Green was fined a game for offending Kevin Durant. He doesn't receive anything for hitting me in the jaw. In other words, I don't care if I get smacked in the face; Kevin Durant's feelings do. Does Jordan Poole believe that this is the best course of action?

"The guy is expected to receive a first-year extension at more than $30 million annually. What should he say, exactly? He wants his money, and he is aware that the best way to acquire it is to attempt to put this in the past. He shouldn't, however, have been put in that predicament. He receives nothing, And the dude has a game where he calls Kevin Durant names and curses at him? He inflamed the issue, in my opinion, and then hit a teammate in the face. He was granted a week off from the squad to address certain issues he believed needed to be addressed. On this issue, I disagree with Steve Kerr."

It will be intriguing to observe the new team dynamic that the Warriors have after the altercation. Green has made it plain that his disagreement with Poole has nothing to do with the fact that both of their contracts are up for renewal. He dismissed this as "hating on another man's circumstances," which is "something that you just don't do," and dismissed it as the cause of their disagreement.

The All-Star forward said that he will try his hardest to heal fences with Poole and his Warriors colleagues.

I genuinely regret doing this, Green said.

On Tuesday, the Warriors play their first regular-season game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
